3D print coolant pipe clips for T3

in the doka there are no upper coolant ring clips for the water system bleed drain – on the late WBX water system a metal ring goes arounf the top opf the engine bay as a bleed space for air in the system and also to allow bleed down of coolant into the various stupidly designed pipes from VW. The Doka originally came with the even more ridiculous and Heath Robinson early WBX cooling system (I swapped it all out as the late one carries more volume, cools better and is less ridiculous) this means it has none of the clips that the now No-longer-available metal coolant ring sits into – after two years I got one – but its held in with zip ties – so I printed these up in white PLA using a Prusa i3 printer.

I also printed some in black as the T3 turbo Schick westfalia had an engine fire with the Previous Owner and what’s in the engine bay is slowly being brought back from mild butchery..

because of the shape they have overhangs that freaks the printer out – something to do with gravity…

so they are printed with a ‘brim’ around the base to help them stick while they are being printed and ‘scaffold’ – spacey spongey support structures that break away super easily revealing the printed block inside.

they look legit – we’ll see how well they work
