i truck down to the local apple centre to see about getting my laptop repaired.
the receptionist calls the head technician down you has a quick look at the it. we chat a bit.

not a problem as it turns out.
its just the hinge that is broken, apparently it’s a common fault. luckily enough apple have just reduced the cost of the part too. the technician prints me a quote (and charges me ?50 for the priviledge!)
